Home. What does it mean to you? As a young child, do you remember home primarily as a place of safety, joy, rest, belonging? Or are your memories of home painful, lonely, sad, fearful, anxiety-ridden? Owing to our human brokenness, maybe some combination of the two. Yet amazingly, God calls us Home. Not an earthly home, but a heavenly one that begins in the here and now. Jesus said, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him."
Really? God making His home with me? What would such a home be like? Is it even possible that God would come into my location and persistently dwell in close proximity to me? At home with God. The Psalmist said, "But I'm in the very presence of God-- oh, how refreshing it is! I've made Lord GOD my home." Wherever you are right now, God is calling you to come home so He can live in close fellowship with you.
